About
Award-winning journalist, author and host
I’m a freelance journalist, author and broadcaster writing about how race, identity and inequality shape the realities of contemporary women’s lives – from motherhood and health to grief, relationships and work.
My work blends reporting and personal narrative, and has appeared in leading publications including The Guardian, The Independent, Grazia, Cosmopolitan and Stylist. I’m currently available for freelance commissions, features and selected projects.
Alongside my journalism, I’m an established presenter, podcaster and speaker, appearing regularly across TV and radio and hosting live events and panels. My commercial clients include Nike, AXA, Turtle Bay and Starling Bank.
As National Editor of The Lead, and a founding member, I helped grow the publication from a startup into an award-winning media group spanning a UK-wide edition, six local editions, online and in print. Prior to that, as Deputy Lifestyle Editor at Metro, I led editorial coverage during the Black Lives Matter movement and commissioned agenda-setting features that drove national conversation.
I’m the author of Mixed/Other (Hachette, 2021), widely praised as a vital contribution to the national conversation on race and one of the first books in a wave of writing on mixed-race identity in the UK, helping to open up the space for broader cultural discussion. I also co-authored Believe (Headline, 2024) with Leigh-Anne Pinnock, a book that sparked an important dialogue about racism, representation and belonging within the music industry.
I began my career in broadcast journalism at ITV News, covering major national events including the Grenfell fire and the Brexit referendum – experience that continues to inform my reporting.
Experience
